The National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli (commonly known as NIT Trichy or NITT) (Tamil:தேசிய தொழில்நுட்ப கழகம்,திருச்சிராபள்ளி), is a public engineering and technology university near the city of Tiruchirappalli in Tamil Nadu, India. The institute was founded in 1964 to cater to the country's growing need for technological manpower. It was declared as an Institute of National Importance by Government of India under NIT Act.
