县城又称县治。指县级行政机关的常驻地。

• 在县级行政区划范围内，选址于相对交通便利，通讯及时，经济发达的城镇。
• 在中国，自秦始皇创建郡县制开始，即有县城。

  • 中国还存在一种县级市，该类市的市治所在地，也是一种县城的形式。

A county seat is an administrative center, or seat of government, for a county or civil parish. The term is used in the United States, Canada, ****** and Romania. In the United Kingdom and Ireland, county towns have a similar function.
