The head of the United Nation's Environment Programme Erik Solheim has resigned following months of controversy over his travel expenses.

Former UN Under-Secretary-General Erik Solheim made the remarks in an interview with CGTN Radio.

Solheim is also former UN Environment Chief and President of the Green Belt and Road Institute.

Solheim also says China's Green BRI has contributed to the post-2020 global biodiversity framework, which is on the agenda of the UN Biodiversity Conference.
