痛痛症，又称疼痛病、骨痛病，是1950年发生在日本富山县的世界最早的镉中毒事件。镉中毒导致骨骼软化（骨质疏松症）及肾功能衰竭。病名来自患者由于关节和脊骨极度痛楚而发出的叫喊声（日文：“痛い、痛い”）。镉由山区里的矿场排放到河里。事件中矿业公司被成功起诉。痛痛病是日本四大公害病之一。

Itai-itai disease(イタイイタイ病itai-itai byō, lit. "it hurts-it hurts disease") was the name given to the mass cadmium poisoning of Toyama Prefecture, Japan, starting around 1912. The term "itai-itai disease" was coined by locals for the severe pains (Japanese: 痛い itai) victims felt in the spine and joints. Cadmium poisoning can also cause softening of the bones and kidney failure. The cadmium was released into rivers by mining companies in the mountains, which were successfully sued for the damage. Itai-itai disease is known as one of the Four Big Pollution Diseases of Japan. |
