中音萨克斯风（Alto saxophone），是萨克斯风家族的成员，阿道夫·萨克斯于1841年发明。次中音萨克斯风与中音萨克斯风（Alto saxophone）是最受欢迎的萨克斯风。中音萨克斯风是最常见的萨克斯风，降E调，也是应用在古典乐独奏、合奏中最多的萨克斯风。由于按键距离适中，气息要求和嘴部控制难度介于高音萨克斯和次中音萨克斯风之间，相对便宜的价格和搬运容易，因此成为初学者入门最常使用的萨克斯。中音萨克斯音色较次中音清亮，较高音温和。中音萨克斯风构成了管乐队萨克斯声部的最主要部分，在爵士大乐队编制中和次中音占同等重要位置。作为独奏乐器出现相对少一些。

The alto saxophone, also referred to as the alto sax, is a member of the saxophone family of woodwind instruments invented by Belgian instrument designer Adolphe Sax in the 1840s, and patented in 1846. It is smaller than the tenor but larger than the soprano. The alto and tenor are the most common types of saxophones. The alto sax is the most common saxophone and is commonly used in classical music (such as concert bands, chamber music, and solo repertoire), military bands, marching bands, and jazz (such as big bands, jazz combos, swing music). The saxophone fingerings are all universal, so a saxophone player can play any type of saxophone.
