地理工程学 ( Geoengineering )，是运用工程手段解决现时地球问题的一门新兴学科，其应用范围诸如气候、农业……等等问题。

第一类是将空气中的二氧化碳脱除并将其保存或转化为燃料（学名为二氧化碳脱除），如，将铁化合物倒入海中帮助浮游生物成长，以求透过浮游植物的生物泵(biological pump)，吸收并减少大气中的二氧化碳；直接将要排放到大气中的二氧化碳捕获，并封存在不同的保存库，如矿场、地壳与海洋等，这种技术简称为碳捕捉与封存（Carbon Capture and Sequestration，CCS）。或设置「人工树」(一种巨大塔型建筑)，使之可吸收、保存空气中的二氧化碳。

Climate engineering, also referred to as geoengineering or climate intervention, is the deliberate and large-scale intervention in the Earth’s climatic system with the aim of limiting adverse climate change. Climate engineering is an umbrella term for two types of measures: carbon dioxide removal and solar radiation management. Carbon dioxide removal addresses the cause of climate change by removing one of the greenhouse gases (carbon dioxide) from the atmosphere. Solar radiation management attempts to offset effects of greenhouse gases by causing the Earth to absorb less solar radiation.
