仓颉是中国神话人物，相传为黄帝史官，创造文本，俗称仓颉先师 、仓颉圣人、制字先师、制字先圣、右史仓圣人或仓颉至圣。传说中仓颉生有“双瞳四目”。

传说仓颉是黄帝的右史，发明文本，其助手左史沮诵记录下来时，鬼神夜间哭泣，认为人类即将变为狡诈。

“仓颉造字”的传说在战国时期已经广泛流传。《荀子·解蔽》称：“好书者众矣，而仓颉独传者壹也”。《韩非子·五蠹》：“昔者仓颉之作书也，自环者谓之私，背私谓之公。”《吕氏春秋·君守篇》亦记载有：“奚仲作车，仓颉作书，后稷作稼，皋陶作刑，昆吾作陶，夏鲧作城，此六人者，所作当矣。”《淮南子·本经》中记载：“昔者仓颉作书，而天雨粟，鬼夜哭。”《说文解字序》中记载：「仓颉之初作书，盖依类象形，故谓之文；其后形声相益，即谓之字。文者，物象之本；字者，言孳乳而寖多也。著于竹帛谓之书。书者，如也。以迄五帝三王之世，改易殊体，封于泰山者七十有二代，靡有同焉。」

Cangjie (Chinese:仓颉) is a legendary figure in ancient China (c. 2650 BC), claimed to be an official historian of the Yellow Emperor and the inventor of Chinese characters. Legend has it that he had four eyes and four pupils, and that when he invented the characters, the deities and ghosts cried and the sky rained millet. He is considered a legendary rather than historical figure, or at least, not considered to be sole inventor of Chinese characters. Cangjie was the eponym for the (c. 220 BCE) Cangjiepian proto-dictionary, the Cangjie method of inputting characters into a computer, and a Martian rock visited by the Mars rover Spirit, and named by the rover team.
