甲醇（Methanol，或Methyl alcohol；分子式：CH₃OH或MeOH）又称羟基甲烷、木醇（wood alcohol）与木精（wood spirits），是一种有机化合物，为最简单的醇类。「木醇」与「木精」之名源自于甲醇的主要生产方式曾经是萃取自木醋液（为木材干馏或裂解的产物之一）。现代甲醇是直接从一氧化碳，二氧化碳和氢的一个催化作用的工业过程中制备。

甲醇很轻、挥发度高、无色、易燃及有一个独特的气味非常相似乙醇（饮用酒）的气味。但不同于乙醇，甲醇有剧毒，不可以饮用。通常用作溶剂、防冻剂、燃料或变性剂，亦可用于经过酯交换反应生产生物柴油。

Methanol, also known as methyl alcohol, wood alcohol, wood naphtha, methyl hydrate, or wood spirits, is a chemical with the formula CH₃OH (often abbreviated MeOH). Methanol acquired the name "wood alcohol" because it was once produced chiefly as a byproduct of the destructive distillation of wood. Today, industrial methanol is produced in a catalytic process directly from carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and hydrogen.
