风媒传粉是指植物仰赖风力传粉的特性。裸子植物几乎完全倚赖风媒传粉，而风媒传粉的开花植物品种数量亦仅次于动物传粉的植物。

风媒传粉植物的花（称为风媒花）通常较不起眼，而且每株植物的花的数量较仰赖其他传粉媒介的植物少。花的雄蕊瘦长、表面平滑，并呈现插件的形态，令花粉较容易随风飘逸。雌蕊的柱头形状较不规则，以扩大表面积增加捕捉花粉的机会。风媒花不会分泌花蜜，因此也没有蜜源标记。

风媒传粉植物的花粉/胚珠比率（P/O比）较高，例如松科植物的P/O比为一百万，欧榛的P/O比则达二百五十万。也有一些风媒传粉植物的P/O比与动物传粉的植物较为接近（如垂枝桦的P/O比约为6700）。由风力传播的花粉或孢子含有较少孢子花粉素，质量较轻，抵销了制造额外的花粉或孢子的成本。
