美国国防部（英语：United States Department of Defense，简称DOD或DoD）是美国联邦行政部门之一，主要负责统合****与陆海空军（美军），其总部大楼位于五角大楼（The Pentagon），因此人们也常用五角楼作为美国国防部的代称。国防部的行政首长是国防部长，依照美国法律由文官担任。美国国防部设有三个军事部门：陆军部、海军部与空军部，涵盖除海岸防卫队外的所有美**队。除此之外，美国国防部亦设有若干国防幕僚与研究单位，同时管辖各军校。

1947年，美国政府将军队管理中央化，将军事指挥权统一交由新成立的「国家军事机构」（National Military Establishment），除了将陆军部与海军部交由其管辖之外，同时将美国陆军航空军升格为独立的美国空军，创建一个直属于该机构的空军部。至1949年8月10日，国家军事机构才更名为国防部。美国国防部现在的组织是按照美国国会通过的1986年的《戈德华特－尼科尔斯国防部改组法》（Goldwater-Nichols Act of 1986）。按照这个法案，军事命令是从美国总统通过美国国防部长直接到美国战区司令官。参谋长联席会议有责任管理美国武器和后备军人，参谋长联席会议主席也担任总统和****委员会的首席军事顾问，但是参联会没有指挥权。

The Department of Defense (DoD, USDOD, or DOD) is an executive branch department of the federal government of the United States charged with coordinating and supervising all agencies and functions of the government concerned directly with national security and the United States Armed Forces. The Department is also the largest employer in the world, with more than 2.13 million active duty servicemen and women as well as their support staff of civilian workers. Adding to the total is over 1.1 million National Guardsmen and Reservists from the four services, bringing the total to just over 3.2 million employees. It is headquartered at the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, just outside of Washington D.C.
