录音室是广播电台的必要设施，另外也有专门的公司或工作室所经营的录音室，可提供唱片录制、配音、配乐等用途。录音室通常分为两个空间，一个空间是供收音的地方，为避免外界杂音影响录音品质，良好的隔音是必要的；另一个空间则放置调音台、监听喇叭等录音与后制所需的硬件控制设备，由录音师操作。两个空间之间通常以玻璃隔着。录音室的大小从只能容纳一两人到可容纳一整个交响乐团不等，视需求而定。
