微型行星 (minor planet)是直接环绕着我们的太阳的天体，但它们暨不是主要的行星，也不是原本所谓的彗星。微型行星可以是矮行星、小行星、特洛伊天体、半人马小行星、古柏带天体、和其它的海王星外天体。第一颗微型天体是在1801年发现的谷神星 (矮行星，但从发现开始迄1851年，它都被视为一颗行星)。 在小行星中心已经存有轨道数据的天体超过570,000颗。

微型行星 (minor planet)这个名词从19世纪就被用来描述这些天体。planetoid这个名词也曾经被使用过，特别是针对较大 (像行星) 的天体，像是从2006年起被国际天文学联合会称为矮行星的天体。在历史上，小行星 (asteroid)、微型行星 (minor planet)、和planetoid 或多或少的被视为同义词。但因为在木星，尤其是海王星轨道之外也发现了许多的小天体，而使问题变得复杂，因为这些天体不适合全部都归类为小行星。此外，曾经被观察到发布气体的小行星可能会得到也是彗星的双重分类。

A minor planet is an astronomical object in direct orbit around the Sun that is neither a planet nor exclusively classified as a comet. Minor planets can be dwarf planets, asteroids, trojans, centaurs, Kuiper belt objects, and other trans-Neptunian objects. As of 2016, the orbits of 709,706 minor planets were archived at the Minor Planet Center. The first minor planet to be discovered was Ceres in 1801.
