乌拉圭东岸共和国（西班牙语：República Oriental del Uruguay），简称乌拉圭。位于南美洲东南部，乌拉圭河与拉普拉塔河的东岸，北邻巴西，西界阿根廷，东南濒大西洋。居民约90%是白人，其余有8%的印欧混血儿。多信奉天主教。官方语言是西班牙语。首都为蒙得维的亚。1825年8月25日从巴西帝国的统治下独立。境内大部分地势平坦，农牧业发达。现为南美洲国家联盟成员国。

乌拉圭属温带气候，以优美自然风光和安定社会环境，获誉为「南美瑞士」；又因其形似宝石且盛产紫水晶，获誉为「钻石之国」。

Uruguay (/ˈjʊərəɡwaɪ/; Spanish: [uɾuˈɣwai]), officially the Eastern Republic of Uruguay (Spanish:República Oriental del Uruguay), is a country in the southeastern region of South America. It is bordered by Argentina to its west and Brazil to its north and east, with the "Río de la Plata" (River of Silver) to the south and with the Atlantic Ocean to the southeast. Uruguay is home to 3.3 million people, of whom 1.8 million live in the metropolitan area of its capital and largest city, Montevideo. With an area of approximately 176,000 square kilometres (68,000 sq mi), Uruguay is geographically the second-smallest nation in South America after Suriname.
