华通氏胶 Wharton's jelly

华通氏胶（Wharton's Jelly）为构成脐带的凝胶状物质，主要成份是黏多糖（Mucopolysaccharides），也含有成纤维细胞和巨噬细胞，是一种黏膜组织。当婴儿分娩后，温度的改变使华通氏胶内部的结构发生蹋陷，从而钳住脐带内的血管，此过程一般持续约五分钟。
华通氏胶内的部份细胞具有干细胞的特质。

It also contains some fibroblasts and macrophages. It is derived from extra-embryonic mesoderm. |
