2-丙醇，俗称火酒，常温常压下是一种无色有强烈气味的可燃液体，分子式为C₃H₈O。异丙醇是最简单的仲醇，且是丙醇异构体之一，CAS号为67-63-0。

异丙醇可与水，醇，醚和氯仿混溶。它会溶解乙基纤维素、聚乙烯醇缩丁醛、多种油、生物碱、树胶和天然树脂。不同于乙醇或甲醇，它不溶于含盐溶液中。故异丙醇可以借由在水溶液中加入盐，如氯化钠，硫酸钠，或任何其它几种无机盐分离出来，这是因为异丙醇不太溶于食盐水溶液中，该过程俗称为盐析，可浓缩异丙醇，分离成不同的层。异丙醇与水在重量百分浓度87.7%（体积百分浓度91%）共沸时，其沸点为80.37℃（176.67°F）。水 - 异丙醇混合物的熔、沸点都较原先纯物质还低。异丙醇有一丝苦涩，但其具毒性不得饮用。异丙醇随着温度的降低会变得越来越粘稠。在温度低于−70 °C（−94 °F），异丙醇的黏稠度类似枫糖浆。

Isopropyl alcohol (IUPAC name propan-2-ol), also called isopropanol or dimethyl carbinol, is a compound with the chemical formula C₃H₈O or C₃H₇OH or CH₃CHOHCH₃ (sometimes represented as i-PrOH). It is a colorless, flammable chemical compound with a strong odor. As a propyl group linked to a hydroxyl group, it is the simplest example of a secondary alcohol, where the alcohol carbon atom is attached to two other carbon atoms, sometimes shown as (CH₃)₂CHOH. It is a structural isomer of 1-propanol. It has a wide variety of industrial and household uses.
