风信子属（学名：Hyacinthus），为风信子科中的多年生草本植物，具鳞茎。 原来属于百合科，现在已被提升为新的风信子科的模式属，而风信子也从原来的百合目改到新成立的天门冬目中。风信子原产于地中海和南非，学名得自希腊神话中受太阳神阿波罗**、并被其所掷铁饼误伤而死的美少年许阿铿托斯（Hyacinth）。

荷兰是风信子的主要生产地，在十八世纪时风信子的栽种非常流行，在当时有记录的品种已经超过二千个以上。风信子的花密生，总状花序，花有香味，花色有红色、粉红色、蓝色、白色与黄色等色系。罗马风信子是风信子的一个变种，植株比风信子更小，花较早开，花白色或蓝色。

Hyacinthus is a small genus of bulbous flowering plants in the family Asparagaceae, subfamily Scilloideae, that are commonly called hyacinths /ˈhaɪəsɪnθs/. The genus is native to the eastern Mediterranean (from south Turkey through Lebanon and Syria to northern Israel), Iraq, north-east Iran, and Turkmenistan.
