聚合水（polywater）曾经是一种被假设存在的其中一种水的形态，并在1969年后期卷入科学争议之中。聚合水是在1962年由苏俄科学家B·V·德尔亚津声称发现。聚合水拥有许多奇异的特性，像是聚合水要到150℃才沸腾，而-40℃才凝结成玻璃状的固体，密度较水大了10%-20%左右，因此它看起来像果冻而不像水。在1969年，美国的科学家曾经将直径10公分的石英毛细管悬吊于蒸馏水上，然后将整个设备密封，抽成真空，经过18小时后，毛细管内的水逐渐转变成聚合水的形态。

Polywater was a hypothesized polymerized form of water that was the subject of much scientific controversy during the late 1960s. By 1969 the popular press had taken notice and sparked fears of a "polywater gap" in the USA. Increased press attention also brought with it increased scientific attention, and as early as 1970 doubts about its authenticity were being circulated. By 1973 it was found to be illusory, being just water with any number of common organic compounds contaminating it. |
