Page footer
In typography, a page footer (or simply footer) is text that is separated from the main body of text and appears at the bottom of a printed page. It is different from a footnote in that it is typically uniform between pages.
In publishing and certain types of academic writing, the footer is often where the page number is contained. In academic writing, it is often centered. In a book, the footer usually appears on the outside corner of each page. Microsoft Word and other word processors are capable of creating footers which can provide both extra information, such as the author's name, and page numbers on the bottom margin.
