宿命论,又称「命运论」,指人生中早已注定的遭遇,包括生死祸福、贫富贵贱等或者相信一切事情都是由人无法控制的力量所促成的。相信宿命论的人认为人间发生的每一件事都是注定的,由上帝或上天预先安排,人无法改变。

宿命论的观念十分普遍。不论古今中外,人们都不断尝试解开人生的种种奥秘,或找出某些事情的寓意。历史家黑尔默·林格伦说:「视乎人把事情看成是由某种力量促成,顺理成章地发生,还是纯粹出于偶然,然后人就把『神』、『命运』或『机遇』加诸其上。」在人类的历史上,跟命运有关的信仰、传说和神话常常俯拾即是。
