East Prairie is a city in Mississippi County, Missouri, United States. The population was 3,176 at the 2010 census. In 1881, the area was originally known as Bell's Grade and Hibbard and developed as a result of the railroad. Its population was 298 at the 1890 census. In February 2012, a 4.0-magnitude earthquake struck the area, not far from Sikeston, Missouri and Cairo, Illinois; the impact was felt across multiple states.
