道琼斯工业平均指数（Dow Jones Industrial Average，DJIA，简称“道指”）是由华尔街日报和道琼斯公司创建者查尔斯·道创造的几种股票市场指数之一。他把这个指数作为测量美国股票市场上工业构成的发展，是最悠久的美国市场指数之一。

时至今日，平均指数包括美国30间最大、最知名的上市公司。虽然名称中提及“工业”这两个字，但事实上其对历史的意义可能比实际上的意义还来得多些——因为今日的30间构成企业里，大部分都已与重工业不再有关。由于补偿股票分割和其它的调整的效果，它当前只是加权平均数，并不代表成分股价值的平均数。

The Dow Jones Industrial Average /ˌdaʊ ˈdʒoʊnz/, also called DJIA, the Industrial Average, the Dow Jones, the Dow Jones Industrial, ^DJI, the Dow 30 or simply the Dow, is a stock market index, and one of several indices created by Wall Street Journal editor and Dow Jones & Company co-founder Charles Dow. The industrial average was first calculated on May 26, 1896. Currently owned by S&P Dow Jones Indices, which is majority owned by McGraw Hill Financial, it is the most notable of the Dow Averages, of which the first (non-industrial) was first published on February 16, 1885. The averages are named after Dow and one of his business associates, statistician Edward Jones. It is an index that shows how 30 large publicly owned companies based in the United States have traded during a standard trading session in the stock market. It is the second oldest U.S. market index after the Dow Jones Transportation Average, which was also created by Dow.
