柴油 Diesel fuel

柴油（英文：Diesel）又俗称油渣，是石油提炼后的一种液态油质燃料的产物。它由不同的碳氢化合物混合组成，主要成分是含9到18个碳原子的链烷、环烷或芳烃。它的化学和物理特性位于汽油和重油之间，沸点在170℃至390℃间，密度为0.82~0.845kg/dm。
柴油可以被用来作为汽车、坦克、飞机、拖拉机、铁路车辆等运载工具或其它机械设备的燃料，也可用来发电、取暖等。

Diesel fuel /ˈdiːzəl/ in general is any liquid fuel used in diesel engines, whose fuel ignition takes place, without spark, as a result of compression of the inlet air mixture and then injection of fuel. (Glow plugs, grid heaters and heater blocks help achieve high temperatures for combustion during engine startup in cold weather.) Diesel engines have found broad use as a result of higher thermodynamic and thus fuel efficiencies. This is particularly noted where diesel engines are run at part-load; as their air supply is not throttled as in a petrol engine, their efficiency still remains very high.
