简单心理学

In order to conduct a clinical trial properly, scientists need to be able to minimize interference from confounding variables, things that influence final measurements, without being the variable of interest.

为了正确地进行临床试验,科学家们需要能够最大限度地减少来自混杂变量的干扰——这些变量影响最终测量,而不是兴趣变量。

英语百科

Confounding

(重定向自Confounding variables)
Illustration of a simple confounding case: in this graphical model, given Z, there is no association between X and Y. However, not observing Z will create spurious association between X and Y. In the latter case, Z is called a confounding factor.

In statistics, a confounding variable (also confounding factor, a confound, or confounder) is an extraneous variable in a statistical model that correlates (directly or inversely) with both the dependent variable and the independent variable.

A spurious relationship is a perceived relationship between an independent variable and a dependent variable that has been estimated incorrectly because the estimate fails to account for a confounding factor. The incorrect estimation suffers from omitted-variable bias.
