Cloud Atlas leans heavy on the notion of eternal recurrence, which is often associated with spiritual concepts like reincarnation and karma.

This, I believe, is the question that lies at the heart of Cloud Atlas, directed by Tom Tykwer and the Wachowskis, and based on the book by David Mitchell.
