The polymorphy of fronds and chromosome number of Ophioglossum petiolatum Hook. In plants this is sometimes overcome by the doubling of the chromosome number, giving an allopolyploid. In contrast to homoploid hybrid species, polyploid species are easily diagnosed because of chromosome number changes associated with genome doubling. Euploidy The normal state in which an organism's chromosome number is an exact multiple of the haploid number characteristic of the species.

What this means is that one of the two copies of chromosome number 15 that I have in each of my cells has a genetic mutation. Speech 1 was located on chromosome number 7 but where exactly on chromosome number 7 and which particular gene was it, was something that would have required several more years of investigations until the actual gene was detected. Normally, each egg and sperm cell contains 23 chromosomes, and, when they unite, 23 pairs or 46 in total. Occasionally, an accident occurs when the egg or sperm cell is forming, creating an extra chromosome number 21.

染色体倍性 Ploidy(重定向自Chromosome number)

![]() Ploidy is the number of sets of chromosomes in a cell. Usually a gamete (sperm or egg, which fuse into a single cell during the fertilization phase of sexual reproduction) carries a full set of chromosomes that includes a single copy of each chromosome, as aneuploidy generally leads to severe genetic disease in the offspring. The gametic or haploid number (n) is the number of chromosomes in a gamete. Two gametes form a diploid zygote with twice this number (2n, the zygotic or diploid number) i.e. two copies of autosomal chromosomes. For humans, a diploid species, n = 23. A typical human somatic cell contains 46 chromosomes: 2 complete haploid sets, which make up 23 homologous chromosome pairs. |
