Chiliarch

Chiliarch (from Greek:χιλίαρχος, chiliarchos, sometimes χιλιάρχης, chiliarches or χειλίαρχος, cheiliarchos; meaning "commander of a thousand") is a military rank dating back to Antiquity. The command of a chiliarch is called a chiliarchy (χιλιαρχία, chiliarchia).
