止冲挡（Buffer stop，美式英语称作bumper），是防止铁路列车驶过轨道末端而出轨的设备。

止冲挡目前已依据列车采用之车厢链接设备（coupling）的不同，而发展出以下数种类型：

以大众运输系统（尤其是地下铁路）的角度而言，撞上止冲挡通常意味着重大的损害，因为大量乘客受伤的可能性及隧道内部空间的局限。有鉴于此，运用于大众捷运系统的止冲挡会有内置的防爬设备，能使车辆相互密合，避免碰撞车辆相互攀爬堆叠。通常具有独特的鳍状外表。

若止冲挡距离轨道末端仍有若干距离，则还会加上砂石或道碴来加强使列车减速的效果。一场有名的案例就是发生于1975年2月28日的伦敦地铁沼泽门地铁撞车事故，列车冲进隧道末端，造成43人死亡。

The term "buffer stop" is of British origin, since railways in Great Britain principally use buffer-and-screw couplings between vehicles.
