「野鼬」是美**方，特别是美国空军所使用，进行对敌防空压制任务（SEAD）的机种的称呼。野鼬机的任务就是以敌方的雷达为目标、追踪雷达波来源让野鼬机或其他机组能标定与摧毁目标。这种对雷达与防空系统加以摧毁的任务也被称为「铁手」（Iron Hand）。在战术上，铁手任务为殿后的主力打击提供了开路的压制攻击。

野鼬机起源于越战中北越防空飞弹系统的威胁所产生的专用机种系统，越战结束之后美国空军持续改进与换装，直到冷战结束后才改以F-16战斗机接替相关任务。

Wild Weasel is a code name given by the United States Armed Forces, specifically the US Air Force, to an aircraft, of any type, equipped with radar-seeking missiles and tasked with destroying the radars and SAM installations of enemy air defense systems. "The first Wild Weasel success came soon after the first Wild Weasel mission 20 December 1965 when Captains Al Lamb and Jack Donovan took out a site during a Rolling Thunder strike on the railyard at Yen Bai, some 75 miles northwest of Hanoi."
