八代市 Yatsushiro, Kumamoto

八代市为日本熊本县南部的主要城市，也是熊本县内人口第二多的城市，过去曾经是叠席的原料蔺草的主要产地。
辖区内约70%地区为山地，其余地区为平原；被列为日本三大急流之一的球磨川在此流入八代海，而辖区内主要市区也集中于球磨川出海口附近。

As of April 30, 2011, the city has an estimated population of 133,630 and a population density of 196.34 persons per km. The total area is 680.59 km. It is the second largest city in the prefecture after Kumamoto City.
