阎摩（梵文：यम，IAST：Yama），又译为琰魔、阎魔、夜摩、剡魔、焰摩，尊称为阎魔罗阇（天城体梵文：यमराज，IAST：Yamaraja）、阎罗王、阎罗大王、夜摩天王，印度神话中，掌管死亡的神明，相当于希腊神话中的黑帝斯、埃及神话的阿努比斯。在《梨俱吠陀》中，他是第一个经历死亡的人类，因此掌握了死亡的力量。稍后，他成为居住在天界的神明，掌管夜摩天，大乘佛教将他列为十二天之一。随着佛教传入中国，他被认为是掌管地狱刑罚的神明，即是阎罗王。

根据吠陀的记载，阎摩是第一个死亡，到达天界乐土的凡人，因此，他成为亡灵的统治者，指引亡者灵魂到达天界。但是在之后的记载中，閰摩慢慢被认为是死亡之神。他也被认为是南方的守护神，掌管正义与法律。

Yama or Yamarāja, also called Imra, is a god of death, the south direction and the underworld, belonging to an early stratum of Rigvedic deities. In Sanskrit, his name can be interpreted to mean "twin". In the Zend-Avesta of Zoroastrianism, he is called "Yima". According to the Vishnu Purana, his parents are the sun-god Surya and Sanjna, the daughter of Vishvakarman. Yama is the brother of Sraddhadeva Manu and of his older sister Yami, which Horace Hayman Wilson indicates to mean the Yamuna. According to Harivamsa Purana her name is Daya. There is a one-of-a-kind temple in Srivanchiyam, Tamil Nadu dedicated to Yama.
