Songwriter William Gilbert, in the musical " Princess Ida, " wrote: " Darwinian man, though well-behaved, at best is only a monkey shaved."

This came exactly a year after the passing  of William's other sibling Gilbert, resulting in William and his sister Joan remaining the only  surviving children of John and Mary Shakespeare.
