Bibas

Bibas or pipas (Arabic:بيباص‎; Greek:πέππας; Hebrew:ביבאס‎) is an ancient family name (surname) used in Greece, Libya, Israel, the name is derived from the word παππάς or παπάς, and means priest.

The name is fairly common for Jews of Greek origin, In Libya is a title of the tribe Al-bibas or banu hussein al-biabsa from Mejres of Houara, descended from grandfather named "Abu al-Qasim ibn Hussein" a Muslim but his clothing and shape identical to the Christians priests, so nicknamed "Al-Bibas"
