逃兵，泛指逃避兵役（英语：Draft dodger），或是已是军人身分但是脱逃（英语：Desertion）。
在军事术语中，是指擅离职守的官兵，即在未经政府或上级允许的情形下，离弃岗位或逃避「义务」。英文术语「AWOL」是「Absent WithOut Leave」（旷职、不假外出）的字头缩写，有「开小差」之意。
军人不经允许而擅自不就职务者，超过一定时间以上，大多会遭受处罚或是军法判刑禁锢。在战争时逃兵，甚至会被长官，或是军纠、宪兵、政战等人员立即枪毙。
