与法线的角度越大，光线折射的部份则越少，直至当大于临界角时，全内反射便会发生（图中光线的颜色只是作分别之用，并不表示不同颜色光线的光学情况。）

全内反射，又称全反射（英语：total reflection）是一种光学现象。当光线经过两个不同折射率的介质时，部份的光线会于介质的界面被折射，其余的则被反射。但是，当入射角比临界角大时（光线远离法线），光线会停止进入另一接口，反之会全部向内面反射。

这只会发生在当光线从光密介质（较高折射率的介质）进入到光疏介质（较低折射率的介质），入射角大于临界角时。因为没有折射（折射光线消失）而都是反射，故称之为全内反射。例如当光线从玻璃进入空气时会发生，但当光线从空气进入玻璃则不会。最常见的是沸腾的水中气泡显得十分明亮，就是因为发生了全内反射。
