数学上，嵌入是指一个数学结构经映射包含到另一个结构中。某个对象X称为嵌入到另一个对象Y中，是指有一个保持结构的单射f: X→Y，这个映射f就给出了一个嵌入。上述「保持结构」的准确意思，需由所讨论的结构而定。一个保持结构的映射，在范畴论中称为态射。
要表达f: X→Y是一个嵌入，有时会使用带钩箭号

In mathematics, an embedding (or imbedding) is one instance of some mathematical structure contained within another instance, such as a group that is a subgroup. When some object X is said to be embedded in another object Y, the embedding is given by some injective and structure-preserving map f : X → Y. The precise meaning of "structure-preserving" depends on the kind of mathematical structure of which X and Y are instances. In the terminology of category theory, a structure-preserving map is called a morphism. |
