缨尾目（学名Thysanura）在昆虫纲是一个较小的目，全世界有4科约370种。

牠们身体有银灰色的鳞片，触角多节，复眼发达或退化，没有翅膀；腹部11节，腹下有腹刺若干对，末端有一对长尾须，尾须之间生有一丝状中尾丝。幼体形似成体，较小。2-3年后性成熟。一生蜕皮多达35次，每年蜕皮3-5次。有些寿命可长达7年。缨尾虫以富含淀粉的物质为食，常严重危害书籍和纸张等物。

分布广，一般栖息于古旧房屋和书籍、衣物中，称为衣鱼。衣鱼，体细扁，无翅，有3个尾鬃，外覆银色鳞，行动迅速。平常生活在室内，世界性分布。

野生种类的石蛃科 Machilidae 和 Meinerellidae 过去被划为缨尾目，现在牠们有了自己的目—石蛃目。

Thysanura is the now deprecated name of an order of the class insecta. The current name is Zygentoma and encompasses the silverfish or fishmoths, and firebrats. Members of the order are best known for their three long caudal filaments.

The superfamily Machiloidea (families Machilidae and Meinertellidae), the jumping bristletails, were included in the Thysanura until the late twentieth century, but then were allocated to their own order Archaeognatha. The remaining members of the Thysanura comprised the suborder Zygentoma; the suborder was raised to full order status, thereby rendering the term "Thysanura" redundant, leaving Zygentoma as the applicable name. However, the momentum of nearly two centuries of nomenclature has preserved the name Thysanura in common use and in much published material.
