神学（古希腊语：Θεολογια，拉丁语：theologia，英语：Theology）一词，广泛指称所有对神（上帝）这个主题展开的研究或学说。神学一词的希腊文Θεολογια是由Θεος（即「神」）和λογος（即「道／话语／学说」）两个字组合，字面上便有创建人类对上帝正确认识的学说之意。为宗教研究的一个领域。

在基督教于罗马获得胜利以后，在欧洲，神学多被用以指称基督教神学，但在基督教神学之外，还有伊斯兰教神学、犹太教神学等神学体系。有些科学理论家和人文主义代表由于神学受到认信传统所规限而拒绝神学，并且主张公立大学不应该有神学系的设置。
