Ternary acid

A ternary acid is an acid that has the elements hydrogen and oxygen along with another element, often a nonmetal. Equivalently, they contain hydrogen in addition to a polyatomic ion. Ternary acids include nitric acid, sulfuric acid, and sulfurous acid.
