金牛座流星雨是个与恩克彗星相关联的流星雨，因为辐射点看似来自天空中的金牛座而得名。因为出现的时间在十月底至十一月初，适逢万圣节的时段，因此也被称为万圣节烟火。

恩克彗星和金牛座流星雨都被认为是另一颗出现在20,000至30,000年前的大彗星分裂之后的残骸，散布出的物质有些成为一般的彗星，有些则因为接近地球或其他行星的引力场受到吸引而成为流星（Whipple, 1940; Klačka, 1999）。总而言之，这股湍流是太阳系内最大的一支，因此地球得花费数星期的时间才能穿过这股湍流，导致流星雨的活动会持续一段很长的时间，远比一般的小流星雨要长许多。金牛座流星雨的颗粒也由比较重的物质构成，以小的小卵石为主，而不是一般的尘埃颗粒。

The Taurids are an annual meteor shower associated with the comet Encke. They are named after their radiant point in the constellation Taurus, where they are seen to come from in the sky. Because of their occurrence in late October and early November, they are also called Halloween fireballs.
