恐怖游戏（或称惊悚游戏）是以惊吓、恐怖为主题的电子游戏，是大约在二十世纪末开始流行的电子游戏类型。虽然此类型游戏有时候有打斗情节，但玩家们㑹感觉到恐怖游戏中玩家所游玩的角色㑹因为较少的的弹药及生命值、较慢的移动速度、较小的视野或其他限制而相较于其他类型游戏来的弱。玩家也会需要找到特定的物品来解锁新地区，以及在特定的地方解谜。此类型的游戏类似恐怖小说与恐怖电影，有着可怕的故事情节、怪异的角色造型，配上悬疑音乐，使玩家感到恐惧，以达到娱乐的效果。玩家们常常需要逃离类似迷宫的黑暗环境，和面对敌人或怪物的突发攻击。

Survival horror is a subgenre of video games inspired by horror fiction that focuses on survival of the character as the game tries to frighten players. Although combat can be a part of the gameplay, the player is made to feel less in control than in typical action games through limited ammunition, health, speed and vision, or through various obstructions of the player's interaction with the game mechanics. The player is also challenged to find items that unlock the path to new areas and solve puzzles to proceed in the game. Games make use of strong horror themes, like dark maze-like environments and unexpected attacks from enemies.
