Sultana (title)

The word sultan (سلطان) is an Arabic word originally meaning "authority" or "dominion". By the beginning of the 16th century, this title, carried by both men and women of the Ottoman dynasty, was replacing other titles by which prominent members of the imperial family had been known (notably hatun for women and bey for men). But Other languages use "Sultana" for women. Women Sultans can be "Valide Sultan"( Sultan's mother) and "Haseki Sultan" (favorite wife). If She is daughter of Ottoman family or she have got child of Ottoman family , She uses "Sultan". Ruler only can use Sultan for men . Sultan's sons use "Şehzade"
