宿舍，是一种供学生或者职工居住的楼房，居住人数从单人多至十几人不等。 宿舍的设备从只有基本的床舖及共用的卫浴设备，到有厨房可供住宿者自行煮食、有电视机及运动器材不等。不过，高级职员的宿舍又与豪宅无异。 前者是寄宿学生或职员的福利，宿生间是同辈职工，非亲属父母等关系，宿舍主持或管理人员称为「舍监」。 而高级职员的宿舍，容许企业管理层及其家庭成员同住，甚至有私家游泳池等设施，生活及消费全包，视乎雇佣合约条款、劳动法等而定。

平常的宿舍有守则，传统宿舍受到男女授受不亲等保守观念影响，通常男生、女生性别隔离，大多数宿舍为男女分栋或同栋不同楼层，有些宿舍为男女同宿，舍员要参与自治。甚至如大学生，以自己居住的宿舍名称为荣，不时举行各种舍际竞赛。

A dormitory (dorm) or hall of residence or hostel, is a building primarily providing sleeping and residential quarters for large numbers of people, often boarding school, college or university students. In the United States dorm is the most common term, which comes originally from the Latin word dormitorium.
