火花点火 Spark-ignition engine（重定向自Spark Ignition Engine）
火花点火（Spark ignition；SI），是在活塞上行的压缩行程到达一个阶段，电脑会下达指令产生高压电，使火花塞跳火而产生火焰，就是所谓的火花点火。此举将使混合油气燃烧，让引擎从压缩行程进入动力行程。 若引擎是使用分电盘，则是使发火线圈中的低压线圈（一次线圈）通电，利用电磁感应，使高压线圈（二次线圈）产生足够的高压电使火花塞跳火。 跳火的时间并不固定，会依车辆的行使状况而改变。
