The hammer blow fell in 1795: the Dutch  Republic collapsed under French invasion, and the pro-French Batavian Republic took its  place.

But the Batavian Revolt was nowhere near as successful, as the  civil war ended before it could gather momentum and the Batavii failed to acquire allies amongst  other tribes.
