锡亚琴冰川（Siachen Glacier）位于喀喇昆仑山脉南端约35°30′N 77°00′E / 35.5°N 77.0°E / 35.5; 77.0的巴控克什米尔、印控克什米尔和中国**之间，高度从印控一侧的海拔5375米延伸至中国境内的3620米。这一地区也是亚欧大陆板块与印度次大陆北部的分水岭, 在喀喇昆仑山广泛的冰川部分有时也被称为“第三极”。冰川长约72公里，面积约3000余平方公里，平均气温在摄氏零下30-50度之间。地形上呈南北走向，西面为萨尔托洛山脉（Saltoro），东面为喀喇昆仑山主脉。萨尔托洛山脉北端延伸至中国境内与喀喇昆仑山锡亚康戈里峰（Sia Kangri peak）相连。萨尔托洛山脉的山峰高度处在5,450至7,720米之间，自北向南山口高度5,589米到5,450米；这一地区冬季平均降雪量10.5米，气温最低达零下50摄氏度。

The Siachen Glacier (Hindi: सियाचेन ) (Urdu:سیاچین) is located in the eastern Karakoram range in the Himalaya Mountains at about 35°25′16″N 77°06′34″E / 35.421226°N 77.109540°E / 35.421226; 77.109540, just northeast of the point NJ9842 where the Line of Control between India and Pakistan ends. At 76 km (47 mi) long, it is the longest glacier in the Karakoram and second-longest in the world's non-polar areas. It falls from an altitude of 5,753 m (18,875 ft) above sea level at its head at Indira Col on the China border down to 3,620 m (11,875 ft) at its terminus. The entire Siachen Glacier, with all major passes, is currently under the administration of India since 1984, while Pakistan controls the region west of Saltoro Ridge with Pakistani posts located 3,000 ft below 100 Indian posts on Saltoro Ridge.
