能源安全是一国家安全名词，为能源所带来的潜在一切危害国家利益问题探讨。

最常见能源安全问题是能源缺乏，尤其是无法自产能源的国家必须仰赖进口，若是来源国切断供应或是交通线受阻，则马上发生能源不足、工业停摆、社会动荡等问题，从而等于国家安全操控在外部因素手中。

确保能源安全的惟一理论方法只有促进自产能源比率，自产比率越高安全越高，其次是能源多样化，减少仰赖单一能源型态例如化石燃料的石油或天然气，若是单一能源过高则该体系被破坏或发生问题时，社会停摆的层面就越大。
