火山渣锥是指火山口周围由火成岩屑或火山渣等火山的喷出物质堆积而成的山丘。

火山渣等火山碎屑是火山渣锥的构成物。 火山渣锥一般高度为几十米到数百米之间。 大部份火山渣锥在顶部都有一个碗形的火山口。

在火山渣锥的不活跃期，岩浆中的气泡渐渐消失，并停止喷发。 而火山渣锥本身也因为构造太为松散而无法支撑剧烈的喷发。 愈来愈稠密的岩浆会从松散的火山渣锥底部渗出在其周围形成一道熔岩流。渗出停止时，火山锥扎就像是一个湖中的岛。

A cinder cone or scoria cone is a steep conical hill of loose pyroclastic fragments, such as either volcanic clinkers, cinders, volcanic ash, or scoria that has been built around a volcanic vent. They consist of loose pyroclastic debris formed by explosive eruptions or lava fountains from a single, typically cylindrical, vent. As the gas-charged lava is blown violently into the air, it breaks into small fragments that solidify and fall as either cinders, clinkers, or scoria around the vent to form a cone that often is beautifully symmetrical; with slopes between 30-40°; and a nearly circular ground plan. Most cinder cones have a bowl-shaped crater at the summit.
