Rostam or Rustam (Persian:رُستَم, pronounced [ɾos'tæm, ɾʊs'tæm]) is the epic hero of the Persian epic Shahnameh in Persian mythology, and son of Zal and Rudaba. In the story, Rostam and his predecessors were natives of the Zabulistan region of Sistan (present-day Iran and Afghanistan). Rostam's mother Rudaba was a princess of Kabul.
