隐翅虫（学名：Staphylinidae、英语：rove beetle）是鞘翅目隐翅虫科甲虫的通称，属多食亚目的隐翅虫科（Staphylinidae），是鞘翅目中物种丰富的一科。鞘翅极短，因该科大多数种类其后翅藏匿于前翅之下而不易察觉而得名。

隐翅虫分14亚科900余属，有20000余种，广布世界各地。大多数种类状似白蚁，体长约0.5至1.0公分，有些种类体长可大至2公分以上，或小于0.3公分。

其中最具代表性的是毒隐翅虫属（Paederus）属，**常见为「褐毒隐翅虫」（Paederus littorarius）。一致的特征包括身体为橘黄色，头、胸及尾部为铁青色，故俗称「青蚂蚁」。喜好栖息在水田、草地及树林中，有趋光习性，常在晚上飞入有灯火的地方，捕食性。毒隐翅虫并不会螫人，但牠们的体液具有隐翅虫素会对皮肤产生刺激，一旦接触10～15秒就会引起发炎反应，患者会感到灼痛，皮肤起泡及溃烂，是为「隐翅虫皮肤炎」。一般的说法都是只要不将其捏破，不会对人构成威胁，但是实际上只要不小心碰触到牠的身体，牠就会适时喷出体液，在你的皮肤上引起发炎，起泡和溃烂，在伤口还没复合期间，苦不堪言。该属的很多种类是重要的天敌昆虫，且有观赏价值的有角隐翅虫属，这类隐翅虫通常被称为前角隐翅虫，体型通常较小，出现在任何地方。多为腐食性，对人无害。有些种类在蚂蚁和白蚁巢中生活。

The rove beetles are a family (Staphylinidae) of beetles, primarily distinguished by their short elytra (wing covers) that typically leave more than half of their abdomens exposed. With roughly 63,000 species in thousands of genera, the group is currently recognized as the largest family of beetles. It is an ancient group, with fossil rove beetles known from the Triassic, 200 million years ago, and possibly even earlier if the genus Leehermania proves to be a member of this family. They are an ecologically and morphologically diverse group of beetles, and commonly encountered in terrestrial ecosystems.
