远征战斗载具（Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle, EFV）原名先进两栖突击载具（Advanced Amphibious Assault Vehicle, AAAV），由通用动力公司陆地系统部门（General Dynamics Land Systems, GDLS）负责研发制造工作，而后在 2003 年 9 月 10 日更名为远征战斗载具。依计划，美国海军陆战队原定将于 2015 年前购置 1,013 辆，以取代现役的AAV-7A1两栖突击载具。

本车基本上是一辆两栖装甲人员运输车（Amphibious Armored Personnel Carrier, AAPC），设计目标是要将一个完整编制的海军陆战队步兵班从地平线外的两栖突击舰直接运送上岸，并拥有至少相等于或超过 M1 艾布兰（Abrams）式主力战车的敏捷性、生存性和机动力。

The Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle (EFV) (formerly known as the Advanced Amphibious Assault Vehicle) was an amphibious assault vehicle developed for use by the U.S. Marine Corps. It would have been launched at sea, from an amphibious assault ship beyond the horizon, able to transport a full Marine rifle squad to shore. It would maneuver cross country with an agility and mobility equal to or greater than the M1 Abrams.
